Many years ago I was a patient of Dr. Tolstedts ,in 1964 Bismarck North Dakota. According to my parents, when I was just 10 months of age I had emergency surgery to remove a tumor that had ruptured in the abdominal area. I have a long scar to prove it! Sincere condolences from all of us here at Northwestern University Medical School. I always enjoyed my conversations with Dr. Tolstedt; discussing his time in the service, his practice of medicine, and basketball. Dr Tolstedt was the first doctor I worked with and the best . He taught me many things and was the kindness and most patient man . Truly one of the best !

Dr Tolstedt was a Q & R Clinic physician when I was a student nurse at Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing. He was one of the most caring physician's that I ever met and was very caring and concerned with all those he cared for. Sympathy to his family. Bless his memory.
