Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

ODOM, Grant R. ?Odie? - Of Lady Lake, FL, formerly of Flint, MI, age 91 died Monday, August 3, 2015.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Chris Radcliffe officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW #3087 Chevrolet Motor Post Honor Guard.

Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Visitation 11:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Grant was born in Luther, TN on January 26, 1924, the son of the late John and Sally (Trent) Odom and was a resident of the Flint area since 1953.

He married Lillian Joyner on March 15, 1944 in Kingsport, Tennessee and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2008.

Grant served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star, with three clusters and The Purple Heart.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge 458 F.&A.M., OES Chapter 430 Swartz Creek; Elf Khurafeh Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Bay City Consistory and VFW #3087 Chevrolet Motor Post.

Mr. Odom was employed by G.M. as a Truck Driver for 27 years, retiring in 1980.

Surviving are son, Randy and wife Sheri of Elk Rapids;

daughter, Sandy and husband Tom Agle of Lady Lake, FL;
7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother and three sisters.

I never met Grant Odom but my grand daughter, Mindi Odom, says he was a true jewel amd loved by everyone who knew him. Thinking of you, Odom family.
