Grantland M. Aple Sr.

Grantland M. "Big Daddy" Aple, Sr., 56, of Pen Argyl, passed away, Friday September 2, 2016, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. Born in New Orleans, LA, November 25, 1959, he was the son of the late Richard and Saulmann (Firment) Aple. For many years he was employed in the electric generation field and was presently employed at Widows, Stockertown, PA. He was a member of the Charles Nelson Lobb Post 502 of the American Legion, Pen Argyl, where he played on their pool team. Grantland was known as a "Classic Southern Gentleman", and he enjoyed cooking and the New Orleans Saints. He is survived by a son Grantland M., Jr., two daughters, Sarah A. Aple, and Stephanie Kresge, his companion, Susan Kresge, and three grandchildren, Samarah, S'niyah, and Sierrah, all of Pen Argyl. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard, Jr., and Saul. A Memorial Services will be held, Friday, October 7, 2016 at 5 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. There will be a visitation beginning at 4 PM until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl, PA 18072, to help the family offset funeral expenses.
