Grattan was a role model of caring for the welfare of those who needed the help of government

Dear Janet and Tim, It was with a heavy heart that we read about Grattan's passing. I do remember him as a vibrant man, and have great respect for him. I especially appreciated his involvement with me regarding two very intelligent and conspiring high schoolers. His contributions to our community and state will be a lasting legacy you can all be proud of. My thoughts are with you now and will continue with you as you process this great physical loss. Sorry for the loss of Grattan and his many contributions. May God hold Grattan, Janet and family in the palm of God's Hand. Rest in peace, my friend.

Grattan was a very special person. He had integrity, determination and deeply democratic values.

I first met him when I worked in Senator Morse's campaign in 1972. We then shared a house with four others in Salem when we worked for the Oregon legislature.

He was a strong supporter of the trade union movement, not because he wanted our support, but because he believed in the rights of workers and in the need for true democracy, including industrial democracy.

My thoughts are with you & your family Janet. It's been a long time since our days of contract management. I now live in Salem & get up to the Seattle often as I still have many family members living there. Perhaps our paths will cross again one day . Patti Little
