CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Greg Gibson "Gibby"

Born June 25, 1979 in Redmond, WA and died tragically January 8, 2016 in a house fire with his loyal dog "Nino" at his side in Shoreline, WA.

Survived by his parents, Gerry and Bonnie Gibson; sisters, Emily Bennett (Del) and Colleen Rowe; nieces and nephew, Fiona, Quentin, Angelica and Mikayla; loving partner, Ben Arao; and a large extended loving family.

Greg was the heart and soul of punk rock in the Seattle/Puget Sound area and beyond for nearly 20 years. He started as a drummer in his "Quicktips" band, and later "Can't Complain", then "Mind Candy" and other local bands. This all evolved into what became his life's passion, Local Chaos Productions.
Greg didn't care about getting rich. A fellow musician friend said what he cared about most were the people around him, his friends, family, relationships, and his music. He said, in that regard, Greg was the most wealthy man he knew.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, January 16 at 1 PM at the Thomas Family Farm
9010 Marsh Rd, Snohomish, WA 98296

In honor of Greg, please ensure you have smoke alarms and that they are functional.

Not sure what to say?

The music scene has forever been changed.. Forever in our hearts!

Gibby, I've never met you. But your dad came today and installed four smoke alarms in my house in your honor. I'm on disability with a very limited income, and couldn't have afforded them otherwise. You don't know it, but you may have saved my life! I won't forget you, dear Gibby. Or the kind heart of your dad either. I only wish I could have met you in this life. My sincerest condolences to your family... my heart goes out to them...

Hey brother although it has, been over 15 years since I last laid eyes on you, the minute the news hit my ears I was devastated in tears. You hold a spot in my heart brother. Although the beat of the lions heart has stopped, his rhythm shall forever be heard! . Peace and Love brother, you can rest now.

Sadly I cannot make Greg's memorial on Jan 16th. I want to, but I have prior commitments. I will miss his vibrant support of so many styles and types of music here in Seattle. Greg was a rare bird. Someone who didn't have pretensions about what he liked. He was a supporter of those who tried and had Spirit (& gave their all!) to there passions. He booked shows that should have been great, but sometimes fell short of the mark and yet he ALWAYS took care of the performers (paid them, respected...

Greg you rest now....

Greg You are missed like do not believe..Buddy I will see you when I get there .. Make sure you have a show with David Bowie..RIP..

RIP Greg - you had a lot of Heart
