COATES, Gregory L. - Age 64, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Rev. Donnie Eagle and Rev. Ernest Davis officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Coates was born in Flint, Michigan on November 9, 1946. Gregory married Carol (Snider) on November 28, 1964. Gregory and Carol were both members of Crossroads Church of God. Before his illness he enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren; golfing, yard work and his computer. Surviving are wife, Carol; daughters, Tracey (Dave) Wagner and Tammy (Tom) Hawley; five grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, Owen, Bailey and Marisa; two brothers, Brent and Jeffery Coates; two sisters, Nancy Roberts and Peggy Carver; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
