Gregory P. Goetz

I dedicate this borrowed sentiment from William Shakespeare to my friend Greg Goetz. The quality of friendship is never strained. No, rather, it falls from Heaven like the gentle rain. And upon the place beneath, it is twice blessed, for it blesses him who gives and he who receives. Thank you, Greg, for being my friend.

On behalf of the Staff and Board, and as Director of the Shaker Heights Public Library, I would like to let everyone know that we will be placing a memorial book, entitled One to Nine: the Inner Life of Numbers, in our Bertram Woods Branch collection in honor of Mr. Goetz, a former Trustee on our Library Board.

Dearest Pat, Emily, and Travis,
Greg was such a wonderful person and we will miss him terribly. He fought courageously, and we know from our weekends with you the last several years how much he valued your special love and care of him. You and Emily also behaved with extraordinary courage, for which you have our great admiration. You serve as a model of how a loving and caring family faces an awful illness.

Dear Pat,
I am so sorry to hear of Greg's death. I had only heard a short time ago of his illness and saw the notice as we were leaving town. He was such a kind and gentle person. My prayers are with you and your family.

You are both in my prayers. I think of you often and hope you can find the strength to overcome another obstacle. Only the shiniest pebbles are tumbled and tossed around by the surf.
