Not sure what to say?

In the early 1980's I had the privilege of being assigned as principal at Hayhurst Elementary, a K-8 school at that time. Greg was a key teacher and school leader in the upper grade program. It was a time of considerable change as during this time Portland Public Schools engaged in discussions between the Hayhurst community and the Robert Gray community regarding the linking of the two school communities via establishing Hayhurst as a K-5 school and Robert Gray as a new middle school. Greg...

Your neighbors on SW Pendleton Street remember you. Our regards to the family.

Our condolences to the Jones family. Greg was the first person I met when I arrived in Portland in 1980. He greeted me in the parking lot of Hayhurst School and helped me feel welcome. I always admired him as a hardworking educator and as an interesting and gracious man. We sold cookies to raise money to buy the school´s first "microcomputer" from Radio Shack. May his memory be a blessing. Jack and Susan Lazareck

Greg Jones was the principal of my kids grade school. I just found out he died. I am very sad. i wish I could have THANKED his again for all he did for the kids before he died. Mine for sure. Tears. He was an amazing person

Greg was a role model for me, and so generous in giving his skilled advice on issues ranging from the immense challenges of a school Principal, and home construction/remodeling, and how to ride a uni-cycle, and how to see the humor in so many situations. I think I’ll remember his laugh always, and his way of appreciating home, family, and humanity. I was so lucky to have known him so well in our work. My deepest condolences to Kris and his whole family.

Greg was an admired and highly thought of as a school principal and friend. My prayers go out to Kris and his entire family as you cherish memories and celebrate his remarkable life. I worked with Greg on a number of school projects when we both worked at Portland Schools. He was always supportive of his students, staff, and families and was compassionate and caring at all times. He always had his heart and purpose when mentoring others including me and in problem solving with colleagues...

I was deeply saddened to hear of Principal Jones´s passing. He was such a dedicated and approachable person, always going above and beyond for the students and staff. As the principal of my children, he made such a lasting and positive impact on their lives. Greg's kindness and dedication will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

I'm so sad to read about Greg's passing. He was a fine man. I worked with Greg as a fellow school administrator at Portland Public Schools. Greg was so well liked and respected. My condolences to Greg's family. Linda Kapranos

Greg hired me as a brand new fifth grade teacher at Whitman. He was a calm and supportive principal and much appreciated. I am so sorry he has passed. My thoughts are with his family.
