I first met Greg over 28 years ago in Kaiserslautern, Germany. At that time we were both Army Engineer officers. While I was responsible for managing major construction projects at eleven different bases, Greg was the engineer who maintained the facilities, including housing, for an entire community. So, he was one of my customers, and we came to know each other quite well, as did our families. He was a professional in every way and unflappable, handling a very difficult job that I knew...

I knew Greg in my capacity as an private engineering consultant. Without a doubt he had the ability to see the common objectives of the private and public interests and act to facilitate and implement joint actions and investments that made the end result best for the public. There were four projects I was involved with where, upon his awareness of the benefits of working together, he acted to make it work.

It was my great privilege and honor to know Greg and work with him at Washington County. His wisdom, compassion and dedication to public service are a model and an inspiration to all who knew him.

Greg was my Post Engineer when I commanded the US Army Garrison at Ft Ben Harrison. He was a straight shooter in both word and deed; he was deliberate and thorough in thought, dynamic and forceful in action; in short, he was my strong right arm. Greg, I salute you and will miss you!
