Order and Beauty

The little things mattered to Gregory Reda. For instance, that little flourish he prepared for his marriage proposal to Nicole, at her 21st birthday party. She spoke French. He did not. So he got her brother to teach him to say, "I love you; will you marry me?" in French.

Once they were married, they jointly pursued their interests in photography, and eventually many of their pictures tended to focus on their two children, Nicholas, now 2, and Matthew, 6 months.

Mr. Reda, 33, who was in charge of e-mail for Marsh & McLennan, lived with the family in New Hyde Park, N.Y., and among the little things that mattered to him was extreme orderliness. He was neat, really neat. Everything had to be in the right spot.

"All my friends admired it," Mrs. Reda said. "Their husbands were leaving dirty socks around the house, and he would clean up after me."

He even rotated things so they got used evenly. He made sure he wore T-shirts and underwear in proper rotation. He kept the kitchen ordered so the plates and silverware were used to the same extent, preventing some dishes from wearing out before others in the set. There were six chairs at the dining table, and he and his wife always sat in the same place, so he would rotate the chairs to ensure that the cushions softened equally. A little thing, but he noticed.

Not sure what to say?

I did not have the opportunity of knowing you, but perhaps we are family somewhere along the tree...... My maiden name is Reda and I always remember you each year. Sending love and thoughts to you and your wife and kids from the Reda Family in Michigan.

I visited the site in November 2007 and 2011 and just now February 2016 with my wife and teenage step daughters. We were all moved by the experience as we were when it happened. My wife and I know what it is like to suddenly loose loved ones. We randomly choose Greg. We did not know him but we send our love and condolences to those he left behind. We have an infinity with his family, friends and acquaintances. We are from England.

Our guardian angle ...alway with us

John Michael, his brother and I grew up together...and I fondly remember his whole family and especially his two brothers, Christopher and Gregory. My heart was broken for their loss and even though John Michael and I haven't seen or spoken in many years, he and his family hold a special place in my heart. Prayers always said for all of you.

Miss you and the happiness you brought to Nicole, the happiness stays alive in the boys and all the fun things they do together.
