Not sure what to say?

Greg: A soft spoken and pensive 'Man of Steel' who inspired many with his calm demeanor. Well read with a wry sense of humour. Many fond memories of time planning canoe trips, packing trips, driving to and from trips. Time on portages, studying rapids, gazing out over calm evening waters listening to loons. Time hunched over a chessboard, or trading recipes, or learning how to make coffee so strong it would stain a mug. Time watching his self taught calligraphy skills take shape on...

I knew Greg for about twenty years. He was a work colleague and a neighbor of mine. I also know his brother Brian as the three of us all worked together just a few short years ago. So Brian, may you and your family know, that you all have my deepest condolences. I will miss seeing Greg around the neighborhood, as well as talking with him.

Soft-spoken , thoughful and caring. Greg loved to be part of a group but did not need or want to be centre stage. His calm and respectful outlook and his love for working with youth will forever be remembered. A Kanawana legend.

Greg introduced me to tripping on a La Verendrye Voyageur trip in 1984. I remember that we were given the chance to do a 24-hour solo on Lac Grand. He believed in giving us an opportunity to appreciate nature up close and personal. Thanks in large part to Greg, I was chosen as Tripper of the 4th session the following year. The plaque with his calligraphy is hanging in my bedroom today. Regrets about losing touch in the city

I remember Greg fondly from my Kamp Kanawa years. He was like a big brother. He exposed me to The Tom Thomson Mystery by William T. Little and encourage my art practice and canoe tripping skills. Modest, kind, a man of great intellect and memory. He was a great role model. My condolences to the family.

Thinking about this today- I probably spent more time on trips with Greg than with anyone else. I wish I had seen him more recently. Now I can see how I miss him. I hope his life was full of love.

I remember Greg just as described. A very intelligent man with a keen sense of valor, Shev made everyone feel calm and in the moment.

Greg and I shared great times leading canoe trips and talking about all things of trivial importance, but Greg remembered everything I ever said. Such a sad day. Thank you for the calligraphy my friend.

He will be missed by all who knew him. He taught me many life lessons when he would lead trips I was on at Kanawana and later in life when we reconnected around the neighbourhood. Rest in peace Greg.
