Not sure what to say?

Dear Ann and Carter,

I only just learned from Greg Veeck about Greg's passing. Greg's office was next door to mine during those early LSU years. I always enjoyed that wry sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He was a great colleague and a role model to the rest of us as to how one should be as a grad student mentor.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this holiday season.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of Greg. I was a graduate student at the University of West Florida from 1988-1990 and worked often with Greg and Dr. Morgan in the field on their collaborative work there in Pensacola. They were both head and shoulders above the rest and were excellent mentors. He treated me well not only as a student but as a friend. I remember his wit and his friendly nature to all. I know he will be greatly missed.

I was shocked to learn of the sudden passing of Greg.I also worked in his late parents florist shop here in Londonderry Northern Ireland and we had some great fun times growing up and working with Greg and his family. My deepest sympathy to all...Mandy Chapman

Very sad to learn of Dr. Stone's passing today. It has been over a year since last we talked. I owe him my career. His patience with me in undergrad as I discovered a passion for the Coastal and Marine environment and then his nomination of me to spend a year on exchange in England. He was patient and demanding as any good mentor should be. He will be missed. My condolences for his family.
