Gregory L. Whittaker, 59, of Zuni, VA, passed away suddenly on August 9, 2010. A native of Norfolk, VA, he attended Norfolk State University, and worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice as Assistant Director of Hampton Place Community Youth Home for 29 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Cephas Whittaker. He is survived by his wife, Adele "Dell" L. Whittaker; two sons, Gregory W. Whittaker and Ryan C. Whittaker; one daughter, Zandra T. Nichols; two grandsons, Darryl and Jamie; his father, William S. Whittaker, Sr.; his siblings, William S. Whittaker, Jr. (Belinda), Brenda Whittaker, Gail Walden (Willie), Karen Fulton (Ronald), Patricia Cheatham (Andre), Jewel Cooper ( Chris); and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel with Rev. Dawn Brown Adams officiating.
