Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

WRIGHT, Gregory Scott- of Goodrich, age 51, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born July 11, 1970 in Flint to Gregory Wright and Doreen Bollinger (Aquilina-Roberts).

He was a lifelong resident of the Grand Blanc area and a graduate of Grand Blanc High school in 1989. He attended the Police Academy at Delta College, receiving a degree in criminal justice. He joined the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department and retired after 26 years.

Scott was a motorcycle enthusiast, golfer and avid sportsman. He spent many days hunting deer, elk, turkey, or other wild game from Michigan to Alaska. His fishing trips with his buddies were famous. He loved freshwater fishing for salmon to deep sea fishing. Although most of the trips were with his buddies, his daughter Samantha loved many of the same activities.

He also loved and enjoyed boating and spending time with family, friends and "Sweet Melissa" on Higgins Lake.

Hockey was his true love. He played four years for Grand Blanc High School and then continued in many adult leagues. One of his passions was competing in the Alumni Tournament playing for Grand Blanc and his competitors all knew when number 20 hit the ice.

He was a true family man and a wonderful father and husband. If there was any problem, item or need within the family, Scott was always available.

If you knew Scott, you loved him. His humor and wit kept everyone on their toes. The entire family and many friends will miss him.

A special thanks to lifelong friend, Shawn Leonard, who guided the family through this crucible.

Scott is survived by his wife Melissa(Olivo), daughter Samantha, mother Doreen Bollinger(Thomas), father Gregory Wright(Raeann), sister Karie Hunt(Paul), brother Christopher Bollinger(Adrienne), Steven Bollinger and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by infant daughter Gracie Jane, grandparents Al and Bette Wright, Betty Aquilina-Roberts.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation will be held 1pm-6pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.

Not sure what to say?

Doreen,
I just saw this. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when the kids were little & I would baby sit for you & Greg. I had so much fun with them. And then later when I saw you, you always kept me up to date on Scott & Karie.
I am thinking of you, Karie & your family and sending big hugs.
Take care,
Teresa Fraidenburg Taylor

I had the pleasure of coaching Scott in a Summer league in Fraser when he played hockey for Grand Blanc. He was a talented, hard working kid with a great sense of humor. I met up with him again a few years ago at the Genesee county Alumni hockey tournament. He still was a fun loving kid at heart, very personable and friendly. He still had that work ethic and played a mean game of hockey. I and the rest of the crew will miss him. God bless you, Scotty.

Doreen and Tom I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Scott was a very unforgettable person. I had the pleasure of riding Motor's with him at The Genesee County Sheriff Department as one of the Original Five. Never did I ever see Scott where he wasn't smiling and having fun. Even though police work can be a grind on the soul, Scott had a way of making it seem like all would be OK. Even though we drifted apart after retirement, I will never forget how he helped me conquer the skill of riding Motor's and the joy he took in that line of work. ...

I was a server for years at Sams in Rankin. I had the pleasure of waiting on him and his crew many many times. Then as a server in Goodrich, I got to see his face often. Always the biggest smile, much love to his family and friends.

How do we describe in ordinary words someone that was not ordinary at all,
how do we celebrate a spirit so beautiful so full of life.??
RIP Gregory Scott Wright

Scott was my childhood neighbor and a lifelong friend. His smile and fun loving personality is something I will never forget. Heaven definitely got a good one.
