MAYVILLE- Gregory L. Wright, 61, of Mayville, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Westfield Memorial Hospital following complications from a lengthy illness.
He was born July 23, 1960, in Westfield, NY, the son of James D. and Dorothy Parment Wright.
Greg was a 1978 graduate of Mayville Central School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He worked as a Controls Engineer for Wells Food Corporation on Dunkirk, NY where his staff and co-workers described him as inspiring, a great leader and contributor, having an unparallel level of commitment and one who always gave his best.
He enjoyed kayaking, biking, walking, working, snow shoeing, weightlifting, working on his house, and spending time with his family.
Greg is survived by his loving wife; Hope Warner Wright, whom he married May 1, 1999, in Sherman, NY, his parents; James D. and Dorothy Parment Wright of Mayville, three siblings; James (Barbara) Wright of Fredonia, NY, Deborah (Larry) Marsala of Mayville, and Dale (Michelle) Wright of Charleston, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two cousins: Jeff Parment and Larry James, and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). FR Todd Remick will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery. Friends may call for two hours prior to the funeral (10AM to 12 noon) on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Greg was a kind person and a precise hard worker. I first was acquainted through the IBEW and then the Blackstone Ultrasonic company. He researched his hobbies and his interests, be it a trip, buying a kayak, or other things ! I admired his studying an issue thoroughly before diving in.
