Greta VAN VORCE

VAN VORCE, Greta Born June 22, 1930 in Graz, Austria to Franz and Katharina Maierhofer, passed away February 4, 2018. She is survived by her two children, Terry Van Vorce, Lori Maré (Carl); and grandson, Peter Maré. Greta met USAF Master Sergeant Dale Van Vorce in England after which they were married in the chapel at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in 1954. In 1964 she began work with the Arizona Bank (now Bank of America) and retired in 1993 as an Assistant Vice President. After retiring from the bank she began volunteering in the Department of Surgery at Tucson Medical Center. In 1984 she joined and was very active in fundraising for St Jude's in the Beta Delta chapter on the Arizona Council through the ESA and the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed the last eight years of her life at the Cascades of Tucson where she served as an ambassador, a resident board member, regularly assisted the nursing staff, and was involved with maintaining the library. Survived by family in Graz, Austria, brothers, Hansel (Crystal), Franz (Rosie); and nieces, Elfi (Andy), and Monica. Special thanks to staff in Neurological ICU at St Joseph's Hospital, Peppi's House at Tucson Medical Center, and the Cascades of Tucson. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude's or the Gospel Rescue Mission Women and Children's Center.
