1944

Dear Rasmussen family.
Gunnar and I grow up on neighboring farms in Birkerd DK.
We played and learned to swim in a lake on Gunnar's parent's farm.
We even got in to Scouting together on occasion night scouting,
that we later on found out was to cover for the under cover resistant
groups collecting weapon dropped by the British at night.
Gunnar left for Canada right after his stint in the Royal Danish Guard
with his Mom & sisters Lolita & Vibeke.

On behalf of fellow Royal Guards of Denmark, members and friends of our Association in the Pacific NW, it is with sad hearts that we remember Gunnar, who served the regiment in 1951 and was a loyal member of our Association since 1994. Over the years, Gunnar made many trips from Nanaimo to the mainland to meet with fellow Guards and proudly remembered the times in uniform. RIP, Gunnar.....

Dear Family, I worked with Gunnar in the 80's and he was such a gentleman. So kind and soft spoken and always had time for a little bit of a chat. Was a true pleasure knowing Gunnar.
