Gunnar Schlieder

As a forester I spent a number of days over the past 15 years reviewing steep slope forest sites with Gunnar for various landowners. As it relates to the work we did together, everything in his memoriam is spot on. I am a layperson in his field, but always looked forward to spending the day with him. Gunnar was always so kind and such a friendly neighbor. We have fond memories of him and will greatly miss his presence. He was more than a neighbor to us, he was our friend and for that we are thankful to have known him.

Gunnar came to Bandon on September 14, 2018 to examine and report on and active slow-moving landslide on the south side of Coquille Point. He measured the slope with a tape measure. Carol held one end of the tape as they climbed the slope. When Carol fell into a fissure and out of sight, Gunnar reached in, gabbed her hands and pulled her out. We will always be grateful for the rescue, and will always remember Gunnar fondly.
