Of all of the wonderful people I have been so fortunate to have known, Gunter was one of the most profound influences on my life which I still, after 30 years often think of him with deepest gratitude. He gave me so much. He was my mentor and I dearly loved him like a father.

Dear Angela, Carl, Mark, and Sylvie:
From a very young age, Gunter was one of the favorite men in my life while growing up. Your Dad was a very gracious man who showed kindness and gentleness to shy little skinny blonde-haired girls. Even though many years have passed and we lost track of each other, my affection for him is unchanged.
I know you will dearly miss him and I pray that Christ Himself will comfort you.

Angela, Carl, Mark & Sylvia:
I recieved this notice just yesterday from my dad. This is truly a great loss. As a young boy growing up, Gunter's enthusiasm for life drew me in like a magnet! :-)
I will always remember his wonderful smile and joyous laughter. Many memories flood my mind about this great man when I visited with him during the Christmas holidays and at the Wichita Club. I will truly miss him.
May God comfort you with His peace.

Angela, I am so saddened to learn of Gunter's death. You know what an impact he had on my life having worked with him for over 25 years; first at the Wichita Club and then at the Dallas Petroleum Club. He was a very special guy with a staunch dedication to society as well as to his work, family and friends. I will miss his presence. I look forward to seeing you soon in Wichita.

Gunter was a wonderful, gentle man who loved life and the gift of learning. I was always amazed at the time that he took to read to the children in my class and share with them the opportunity that was given to him as an immigrant in our country. He always read to my class from William Bennetts book. With a story in hand and a lesson to learn my students and I were always better people for the messages that Gunter gave us on RIF days. I will never have a reader who has truly blessed my life...

Gunter Weihe would visit my school three times a year as reader for our RIF (Reading is Fundamental) program at Funston Elementary. I always enjoyed visiting with him. Once he even emailed our school and let us know how much he enjoyed our school and the teachers room (Kim Lambdin) that he usually read in. He also was very interested in hearing about how Funston school was going to close and blend with White Elementary. He looked forward to reading to Mrs. Lambdin's class at our new school....
