Not sure what to say?

I began a lasting relationship with Gus when I was a Freshman at Lynbrook. I was fortunate as a Freshman to fill a slot on the Varsity wrestling team and combined my desire to win with Gus' ability to transfer his strategic and tactical concepts to me. It was during this period I began to grow in the world of wrestling and most importantly, in self-confidence.
Gus had an inherent ability to know when I had physically hit the wall during practice and would ease up while I recovered, thus...

Candle lit by Bob Marsella on December 14th, 2018
Gus, you will be missed but remembered and revered by many kids like me. Your ability to motivate average kids to play above the bar or take, "miss fit kids" and mold them into champions was your gift to students. I'm proud that our small gift back to you and Lynbrook in 1970 was bringing home the high school state wrestling championship trophy. Bob Marsella

My son was graduated from Lynbrook in 1990, had this to say about Coach Talbot: Didn't realize he was the "original" teacher there! Certainly hadn't lost his desire to teach when I had him 20 years later. He introduced the morning weight training class that I took senior year and it started at 7am (every other day). Most teachers likely wouldn't create a class that required them to be there an hour earlier than usual, and an hour before anyone else. He seemed to have a passion for teaching.

RIP Gus my good friend and next-door neighbor and together
with your loving family forever.

Miss you, Majorie and Abby, too. Your neighbor

Rest in Peace Coach
