Gussie Lee Tyus

I had the occasion on Friday, March 5th to go to the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, California. They have a nice little chapel there. I lit a candle and prayed for Gus and a few other veterans that I served with in Vietnam. I think about Gus quite a bit and am sorry that he has left us to go to heaven. My prayers are with you.

WIth all due respect, I am not sure that Gussie Tyus is the same person that I was in the US Army with in Viet Nam. If he wasn't I am sorry to bother you in your morning of your loved one.

But If this is my friend Gus, I am very sorry for your loss. Gus and I became friends in the 1st/5th Mechanized Brigade in Quang Tri, Vietnam, in 1969-70. He was a good soldier and he and I had some good times together. I remember how much he loved Aretha Franklyn songs. I can also tell you...

I worked with Gussie at Colonial Freight. He was such a good man. He is making the Good Lord laugh right now.

Words cannot express my deepest sorrow for you all right now. I never met Gus but he had to be a special man to have captured my special cousins heart. May Gods comfort be with you now and always family. He is indeed the true comforter!
