Not sure what to say?

I was a member of the NCTA staff from 1980 to 1999. My best memory of Gus was watching him at NCTA board meetings. While everyone expressed opinions on various topics (sometimes strongly), Gus would sit quietly taking in everyone comments. When the discussion was almost at a close, Gus would highlight the key points from both sides and offer a recommendation for a compromise. More often than not, his recommendation was adopted. I was always impressed with his ability to listen first and...

A gentle giant, who was the quiet and brilliant “other half” of the RitaGus dynamic duo...will be sorely missed. Rita, sending strength and giant virtual hugs.

A lovely man, amazingly accomplished yet modest. Glad to have known him and to have welcomed him so often to Hunter College’s Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute, whose board Rita Hauser chairs. Our condolences

No words can express the sorrow for My Chairman...Our Chairman

A true pioneer and gentleman.

My deepest sympathies to Rita, family and friends. I was one of the front line soldiers in the cable revolution under Mr.Hauser’s (Gus as he preferred to be called) strong
command, being the first dispatched at age 25 to Columbus for “Cable World,” later branded Qube. Subsequently, back to HDQ to help launch Warner’s entry in the Satellite arena, launching Nickelodeon, The Movie Channel (FKA Star Channel) and later MTV. I remained in contact with Gus continuing to receive his mentoring...

I treasure memories of Gus and his wonderful wife from Paris to New York over a 60 year period. Gus was a rare human being who understood that greatness does not require egotism. His example will be missed . My deep sympathy for Rita.

Gus will remain in our hearts forever. He was gentle, caring, humble, and brilliant. We loved listening to Gus’s soft voice as he described his creations with passion related to how it would make a contribution to the greater good, and always in a selfless and modest manner. Together, Rita and Gus changed the world with their commitment to humanity and deep love for each other.
