Guy and I were colleagues for more than 20 years. He was special in that he never had a second, third, or any agenda, other than teaching students at Birmingham-Southern. He was totally dedicated. I recall one instance where Guy allowed a student to take extra time on the final exam, because she had a particular disability. He came in my office and said, "How long can you extend time for this exam?" I said, "a few hours maybe"? He said, "Do you think two days is enough?" That was Guy. He was...
