Dr. Gorrell was a wonderful caring doctor and person. The nurses, patients and families loved him. He helped Emanuel become the great trauma center of the 80s! He will be missed.

I was so saddened to learn of the loss of Dr. Guy. I have many, many fond memories of him growing up with your family on 32nd Ct. It sometimes seemed that he spent more time “fixing” us kids that he did at the hospital – whether by falling BBQ’s, errant javelins, birthday cap pistols in the head, or cut feet. Two characteristics that stood out to me as a child were his patience, and always having a smile. I know he had a positive influence on countless hundreds of people, and I know I am...

Grandpa Guy will be dearly missed. He was and will always be the most handsome man God ever created, he will always be my hero, as he is to so many. He lived a remarkable life and left this world on his own terms. I am so lucky to have known and loved him and treasure so many wonderful memories. He was with me when I gave birth to my son via cesarian, I was petrified to go into the operating room and only agreed when Grandpa Guy was allowed to oversee the surgery. When Devin was born and...

Guy was my flight physical doctor for 35 years, and was also a great friend. He would chew me out if I gained too much weight, and would want to hear all about my adventures with airplanes. I would make a special trip to Portland to get my physical exam from Guy every six months, no matter where in the world I lived. I will miss him, he was my friend.

To Guy's family...I had the honor and pleasure to provide anesthesia care to many of his surgical patients. He was a physician of skill, patience, humor, understanding and respect from members of the Emanuel medical staff, and all those he touched. He intoduced me to Manzanillo, as a place to enjoy..before all the development. He will always be a part of my fondest memories during my medical career.

Dear Laura, Bonnie and Dan, I just learned about Dr. Guy. You had a special father who was a very kind person. I think back to the wonderful times we had on 32nd and how hard he had to work while raising you guys. I also think that maybe we gave him a few gray hairs. I miss your family and think of David often. You should know that your dad touched many lives in a good way.

I was guy's hair cutter over the past several years, and he was one of my very favorite people. He was so kind, gracious, and he always spoke with such integrity and wisdom.

Dr. Gorrell was one of my favorite doctors at Emanuel I was priviledged to know and work with on occasion. I worked for Dr. William Long and Dr. Gorrell sometimes came into the office. We went to a trauma conference at Inn of the Seventh Mountain and he rescued me from having to go on a rafting trip. He wanted someone to keep him company when he took some of the doctors who were speakers back to Seattle. I volunteered to go with him. He was a very gentle and caring person. He did his...
