Not sure what to say?

It´s easy to come up with a memory of my friend Guy even 9 years after his passing. The time I spent working with him were 3 of the best years of my life. I was escaping Eureka in 1978 when I interviewed with Guy at KSLY. I wanted to go into sales but he had no openings. However he offered to let me work the midnight to 6am shift, and if I wanted to sell, he gave me Morro Bay and Cayucos. It wasn´t easy because our signal hardly reached there. Needless to say, Guy was testing me. He ended up...

I worked with Guy as a weekend and all night DJ at KSLY in the late 70s. I stumbled across this posting during a search for Mark Cotta who was instrumental in getting me my gig at the SLY. My condolences on his passing.

Guy - Our beloved friend, and rock of our neighborhood. No words for how much we miss you. A day doesn't pass when we don't think of you, look for you. Our lives as we knew them are changed forever, but nonetheless richer...so much richer, for having been blessed with you. Happy Trails, dear friend.

Best Wishes to Guy's family and so many friends. I will always remember Guy's smile and laughing eyes and his "radio" voice. I always felt his warmth when with him working together on the Special Olympics board for many years. He was always upbeat and had great ideas which he presented in a straight-forward way, with energy. I enjoy great memories of Guy and happy that I knew him as a friend.

Annette and family: I worked for Guy at KSLY/KUNA in the early 1980s. The finest GM I ever had. Took me under his wing and showed me so much. Saw him again in the 1990s when I stopped in on vacation - he was genuinely happy to see me. And that word describes Guy - genuine. No BS. No pretension. Just a good man. Very sorry to hear of your loss. Peace be with you all, know that many people thought very highly of Guy. -- Ric Stratton KSLY 1982-1984

Guy was one of my radio mentors in the 70s. I worked for him briefly when he gave me a radio program on his station in the late 80's. Always a nice guy to me, he will be missed.

I met Guy in 1995 when I worked at Senior Magazine with Gary Suggs: it was so entertaining watching him and Gary tease each other like brothers. Guy even gave Gary the use of the old Railroad Square studio on Saturday mornings, where Gary would play show tunes and I was his "side kick." Those were fun times. I am a loyal KKJL listener, mostly because of Guy - he was the voice of KKJL and it won't be the same.

There just wasn't a nicer more helpful fellow than Guy Hackman. I met him at KKJL some years ago when my husband and I opened our bookstore. Guy helped me to deliver my commercials (30 second poetry spots, written by my husband). I still have a very special commercial - an ad lib by Guy - he just took off with it and to this day I can laugh hysterically when I listen. Annette, I met you at Barnes & Noble. I'm so sorry for your loss realizing that your grief is the heaviest to bear (along...

Jeanie and I just got back from the trip and heard the news. Annette, Natalie and Nicole, you are in our prayers. I'll never forget the warmth and support that were ever present with Guy. He will be missed by us all. Love to you all. Russ Gordon
