CLINTON, MA / VAN BUREN, ME
Guy R. Michaud, 82, died Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Sterling Village, Sterling, his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia L. (Ouellette) Michaud, at his side.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jonathan G. Michaud, and his wife, Jacqueline Hills-Michaud, of Northborough; three grandchildren: Kristen Michaud of Santa Barbara, CA, Max Michaud of Northborough, and Paige Michaud of Portland, ME; ten siblings Patricia, Carmella, Joseph, Normand, Anne-Marie, Michael, John, Roger, Richard and Rebecca Michaud; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Six siblings, Herman, Francis, Ralph, Marie-Hermance, Gilberte, and Josephine Michaud, predeceased him.
Guy was born and raised in Van Buren, ME, son of Gilbert and Beatrice (Tardiff) Michaud. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his father, his step-mother, Lillian (Lapointe) Michaud, his aunt Ida and uncle Alfred Michaud. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School, attended Aroostook State Teachers College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree. He then earned both his Masters and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Maine.
For more than 20 years until his retirement in 2000, he worked as a Customs Agent for the US Federal Government, at the US/Canadian border along Maine’s St. John Valley. Prior to that he was a longtime education administrator for several Aroostook county communities, as well as professor for the Nova Scotia Teachers college.
Guy loved entertaining family and friends many summers at their beloved camp at Long Lake. An avid reader, cook and fisherman, he enjoyed casting his reel in the waters of Maine and Massachusetts.
