Guy sailed away from this earth while in the arms of his wife Dee the evening of April 20, 2020. His limited lung capacity (don't smoke kids!) in recent years that kept him away from his beloved outdoor activities ultimately lead to his death at 66 years old. Not sure what to say?

Worked with Guy at J.R. Wood. Always looked forward to breaks and listening to his stories.
My heart goes out to you, Dee. And to his girls. He never left any doubt about his love for his family.

I worked with Guy at J R Wood for a long time. He was great, funny and smart. My condolences to Dee and their daughters.

I remember our long talks when we worked for JR Wood. He was funny and very smart. He looked at life a lot different, he enjoyed life but was also a serious and meticulous worked. He often talked about his children and wife and his sail boat. Im not much of person for water sports so I could only relate to the fun he said he had. Rest In Peace my friend.

Sending love and strength to you and your girls.

Guy was a treasure and a quick wit. Thinking of you, Dee and missing your smile and encouragement. Love and kind thoughts for you and your family during this difficult time.

I worked with Guy at JR Wood, Inc in the late 80s/early 90s. People could still smoke at work way back then! What a trip to think about that now. My sister, Nancy, babysat for Guy & Dee a few times. Everyone knew Guy and about his love for the water and his board on top of his car. lol
My condolences to all of his loved ones. May your memories comfort you.

Mr. Near is truly the epitome of a "Good Guy." As a colleague of his at Merced College, I always enjoyed talking with Guy. He was knowledgeable and friendly, one of the nicest and most helpful persons I've worked with. I appreciated reading more about his life as a sailor. He truly was, and is, a free spirit. It was my privilege to have known him.
