Gilbert, Gwen (Hillier) 8/29/1934 - 3/18/2016 Ann Arbor, Michigan Gwen considered everyone she met as her friend, though meeting you wasn't required. She was a true "people-person" and "people-pleaser." It was commonplace for her to play the piano at a church function; pick up necessities for...

Not sure what to say?

To the family of our treasured and beloved client, Gwen please accept our sincerest condolences. Gwen would greet EVERYONE upon entering our office. She smiled often and possessed a joy that was never ending. Truly she gave her gift of hospitality away! WE are better because we knew her and grateful for the times we shared together.

We will keep you all uplifted in our prayers. Nevertheless, we rejoice because she made it home!

I enjoyed working with Gwen at Meijer's.
I'll miss her.

To the family of Gwen Gilbert. I have known you Mom from when we both worked at Topps department store back in 1969-1970 in my senior year on co-op. She took me under her wing and helped me learn the ropes. Then in 1973 I started at Meijer and met back up with you Mom. I spent the next 33 years there. Whether I was working or just shopping I would always stop and talk to her. She always had a smile and something good to say. If you needed to know something about the store or someone she would...

To David, and to all of Gwen's family members, my family and I offer you deepest sympathy during these days of transition. Thanks to each of you for being the living reflection of Gwen's well lived Christian life. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5 verse 8. Gwen Gilbert can now confirm that the God we serve has made us extraordinary promises. Keep the faith and God bless you.

Gwen, thank for all the wonderful times that we spent together at Meijer's. Thank you for always giving me a word of encouragement. Thank you for coming back into my life after all those years. God truly blessed me when you came into my life not once (Meijer)but twice (Brookdale). It was an honor to have know such a wonderful woman of God! I will keep your family in my prayers.

It has been many, many years since I've seen her. I have fond memories of her being kind, outgoing, and energetic. My heart goes out to my precious childhood best friend, Kathy, and all of the family. RIP Gewn.

Although I have never met you , I have had the pleasure to call your 2 daughters friend for many years. They are kind and loving women and selfless mothers! May God's healing grace soon replace your tears with loving memories.

I was lucky enough to know Gwen as a coworker at Meijer for my 36 years there
I always thought how does she do it. Sometimes working dual jobs
It wasnt uncommon for her to see me and have an article, book or even a few Beanie Babies of Elvis that she had bought for me.
We loved talking about Elvis, Johnny Cash and I know she liked Bob Segar also.
She would always let me know if an Elvis special or movie was to be on. You get to know and feel like family with people you work with...

Gwen, Thank you!

As an active long-time parishioner at St. Francis Catholic Church, you brought a bright spirit of joy to our Catholic Ministry in the Washtenaw County Jail, and so many times you played the piano with our St. Francis Senior Citizen group events, and you generously helped at St. Francis rummage sales to benefit the needy and our church Altar Society. Thank you!!!

May you rest in the peace of Christ!
