Annis Gwendolyn “Gwen” Anderson Jones went to be with her Lord on May 8,2022. She was born in Pasadena, Texas, May 26, 1957, to Thomas Kent “T.K.” Anderson and Daphne Gwendolyn Gregory Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Van Jones, Sr., parents, Daphne and T.K. Anderson, and grandparents Ruben and Annis Anderson; and stepson Charles Van Jones, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Kimberly Anderson of Marble Falls, brothers, Alan Anderson and wife Glenda of Edna, and Bradley Anderson and wife Gerri, also of Edna, and an Aunt, Lee Snow of Norman, Oklahoma; stepchildren Lee Jones and wife Barbara of Houston, Cecilia Jones Kubeczka and husband Harry of Houston; Patricia Jones Johnson and husband Bret of Adkins; Veronica Jones Welvaert of
Edna. In addition, she is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Gwen grew up in Jackson County and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Industrial High School where she excelled in track and field and band. She won a State championship in shotput and discus. She later met and married the love of her life, Charles “Pete” Jones. Gwen and Charles loved bass fishing and entered numerous competitions. They also enjoyed just fishing together for fun and camping with friends. For several years, Gwen worked for Bill Dance presenting in boat shows around the state for him. Gwen and Charles had 29 blessed years together until his passing in 2016. Her stepchildren’s children call her “Grandma Gwen” and that was a great source of pride for her.
Gwen will always be known for her fierce loyalty as a friend, for her sense of adventure, and, especially, for her sometimes “wicked” sense of humor, complete with practical jokes. Beside her family, she had many, many friends who have wonderful (and often funny) memories of her. She loved animals, especially her dogs, past and present. She passed quietly in her sleep after a long illness.

Thank you Grandma Gwen. For all the straight talk and the laughs, the place to stay, teaching me to park a trailer without mirrors. Showing me some ways to catch trout and believing in me when I was young. I really enjoyed last Saturday afternoon with the deer and the colts. I love you and am glad you are no longer in pain. Fish On Jones!
