Not sure what to say?

I came to know Steve through his son Matt. Most recently, my family and I were beneficiaries of his warm hospitality at his home, where we were all treated to a meal of exquisite sirloin--which I understand was Steve's favorite food. We all ate to excess. Steve always impressed me with his kind-heartedness and compassion, qualities he has quite successfully passed on to his children and extended family. My best wishes to Steve's family during this time.

Steve hired me at the NLRB in 1962 and sent me where I wanted to go -- the Philadelphia regional office. This was after I apparently had been rejected by the head of that office (I was never told.) I had a happy 12-year career with the NLRB and knew Steve as a wise and compassionate (and passionate) man. I guess Steve made a good selection, as I have been the district chief judge in the New Jersey ALJ office of the U.S. Dept. of Labor since 1990.

Sincere condolences.

I was very sorry to hear of Judge Gordon's passing. I worked with Judge Gordon several years. He was the Chief Administrative Law Judge with the U.S. Department of Labor.
I really enjoyed the working relationship we had together.

Steve, you were quite a leader, unusually charismatic, even among other top-level civil servants. Thanks for taking such a close interest in younger staff people.

I was honored to be named by Steve Gordon as Regional Director for the FLRA in 1979 He was a dynamic leader and a wise mentor and remains a true giant in our profession. Sincere condolences to the family.

I had the great fortune and honor to be selected as the first Regional Attorney for the fledgling FLRA in Los Angeles in 1979 by Steve Gordon. I worked for Steve for the years he was the GC and had the utmost respect for his work ethic, integrity and his desire to make the FLRA a first class government agency. I will miss him greatly. My sincere condolences to his wife and family. jerry cole
