What a blessing to have had Jim in our lives the last 2 years.The brief time we've been connected has been a wonderful keepsake. We got to meet his family, spend time together, and was introduced to "Santa" and his magical hideaway; a piece of Heaven on earth for sick children.This place was one of Jim's passions, as God put it in his heart to help others, which he did so generously.Although our time together was short, I am so grateful that he reached out to us that summer day. Rest in peace...

I'm so sorry for your loss. Big Jim was always one of my favorite firefighters, he saved my middle son's life when he was choking on his first birthday, I'll always be grateful to him for that. Maple Hts. was lucky to have had him on the Fire Department.

Big Jim and my father, Len Balcerzak, were firefighters together for many years. He was such a nice man- a gentle giant. Even though as a young child his height intimidated me, once I got to know him, I found out what a great guy he was. My deepest sympathies to his family.
