Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Soper (can't imagine calling her anything else) was such a wonderful presence and influence in my life growing up across the street. She and the the entire family made us part of so many fun family traditions and her smile, laughter and wisdom was a constant for me as a kid - something for which I will forever be grateful.

Very sorry to hear of Helene's passing. She and Bob were two of my favorite people (and neighbors) growing up. Great memories... Blessings and deepest condolences to the whole family.

I never met Helene, but her husband, Bob, was very instrumental in affecting me to choose Iowa as my site of internship and residency. He was a wonderful physician and teacher. Reading the obituary of Helene made me happy that they both had such wonderful marriage partners. I would guess that their progeny possess the same good character and integrity as Bob and Helene. God, bless their souls.

Margret & all the Soper Family:
I've just spoken with Tina Hunting Gant, my niece.
And she told me about Helene's death last week.
I had not known about it, and am so very sorry.
But I read that you all were with her, which is so wonderful. I know that you all are a loving, large family, and Helene was so proud of you all.
I recall a short but excellent visit with both your parents in Iowa City in 1995.
And I well remember a memorable day with you, and them, at your recital...

Rob and All the Soper Family: I met Mrs. Soper once but I still remember how welcoming, charming, gracious she was. She had an instant rapport with little kids, didn't she? I'm sorry for your loss but I'm comforted to know you're filled with loving memories.

I grew up hearing a deep admiration for Helen and Bob from my parents Eileen and Ron Lauer. Ron worked with Bob frequently on complex Peds Cardiology cases. Both your parents were deeply respected and appreciated for their passion, compassion and focus on our community. We all have benefitted from the seeds the sowed and nurtured and Iowa City and the UIHC are ever more vibrant thanks to their legacies.
- Geoffrey Lauer

The Soper family is very special to our family. Growing up across the street from the Soper family was never dull. Our shared Thanksgivings will always be treasured in our memories. Carolers at the door at Christmas - amazing and on and on.

Grandma Trot Trot an angel on this earth to all that knew her.

Would love to hear from family.
