Virginia and family members - "Hairy Paul" and I arrived at Cornell in the autumn of 1949, and we were both part of the pledge class of Psi Upsilon the next autumn. Paul and I roomed together in the House that term, and I became aware of what a kind, humorous and gentle man he was. He never lost those qualities and was always a favorite among peers.
