I am so sorry to learn of Hal's passing on to the other side. I can't even imagine GDS without Hal. There were never any better tomatoes than the ones he brought for us to eat. I remember coming with Julia to see him make molasses. He was a great man and a wonderful friend. I will always remember Hal’s corner in the old gym. Patty and Daisey have such fond memories of him as well. I’m not sure how it works on the other side, but if it was at all possible I’m sure Ray Fahringer was...

Hal and my husband Russell were friends from their army days. They were two peas in a pod and remained friends from that point forth and are still friends in heaven, I am sure. My first introduction to the family was right after Russell gave me my engagement ring. He took me down to Homestead to get John and Lottie's approval. I have such fond memories of this gracious family, of us visiting in North Carolina with John, Lottie, Hal, Pru and Marcella and so do my children Scott and Jill.

I was deeply sadden to hear of Hal's passing. As a young girl at Bethel
I always enjoyed the youth group & ice cream parties at Hal & Prue's.
What a wonderful time we all had! In later years as my family and I came
back to Bethel to visit Hal always went out of his way to greet us. He was
truly a kind soul. My deepest sympathy and God Bless. Elaine Cauble Avansino (Reno,NV.)

Hal will truly be missed by everyone here at Gaston Day. He always came down and had coffee and a cookie or two every morning with us in the dining hall. I will miss him and will think of him often. He was a good man! We loved him dearly.
