Mr. Horton stands out in my mind from a very young age, for the way he always stopped to genuinely talk to us children at Calvary Moravian, in a way few adults do for children. Denny and I were in Ham's Sunday School class during our college days. His teaching style caused us to defend our beliefs with a Christian Scholar. He helped us define our beliefs, appreciate our Moravian heritage, and carry our faith in our daily lives.

I served on the Moravian Archives Prov. Board with Sen. Horton.
That's when I learned about his good common sense, his good humor and his concern for his fellowman. Ham will be greatly missed.
