Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment - South Hill Obituary

Hannah Lurene Alexander, “Bullet” to family and friends, was born on July 14, 1959 in Mecklenburg County, VA.  She was the daughter of the late Wallace and Ida Holloway Baskerville. Hannah departed this life September 25, 2021 at Chippenham Hospital.

At an early age, Hannah was baptized and joined Free Union Church and she attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools. Hannah was married to the late William “Cluck” Alexander, Sr. and to this union three sons were born.

Hannah enjoyed crossword puzzles and Word Search and she loved Westerns and QVC. She collected all types of elephants and also had a knack for sewing, fishing and making wreaths for the holidays; but she most loved spending time with her sons, her grandchildren, her sisters and brother. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Hannah leaves to cherish precious memories: her sons, William Alexander, Jr. of South Hill, Letari Alexander of Yorktown and Catabarice Alexander of Palmer Springs; six grandchildren, Akyia, Montrel, Amari, Kaiden, Catabarice, Jr. (“C.J”) and Cali; four sisters, Delma Jones of Atlanta, GA, Walisha Bracey of Richmond, Elna Hayes (Freddie) and Ida Johnson all of South Hill; a brother, Wallace (Phyllis) Baskerville, Jr. of South Hill; an aunt, Annie Boomer of Philadelphia, PA; two uncles, Clarence Douglas of Houston, TX and Robert Douglas of Philadelphia, PA; sisters-in-law, Sarah and Emma Alexander and Ardell McBee; brothers-in-law, Herbert, Steven and Frank Alexander; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them a devoted cousin, Edna Worthy and devoted friend, Dematrica Brown.

A Home Going Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Free Union Church, 8631 Goodes Ferry Road, South Hill, VA with Elder John Jordan, pastor officiating.  Viewing will be from 12 noon until 5 pm, Friday, October 1, 2021 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Attendees are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

Services are entrusted to the professional staff of Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment, 301 West Atlantic Street, South Hill, VA 23970. 434.447.7158

My sincere condolences for the family!

My friend from Park View. I remember some of the good times we had in that school. I don't think I have seen you since we graduated but I am sure if we had we would have both given each other a big hug. Rest easy my 77 graduate friend. God be with the family.

We would like to give our Condolence to the Baskerville Family and we will keep your family in our prayers.
