Hans (Karl Friedrich) Hagemann, age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Born January 16, 1932 in Kiel, Germany, to the former Bruno and Margarete (Erich) Hagemann, Hans immigrated to the US in 1956 to chase the American dream. He succeeded in that, while he also...

Not sure what to say?

Hans was a most friendly person and a great musician. He truly loved people of all nationalities and always made sure that he could play tunes to satisfy almost everyone. While I lived in PA during 1986-2000 I was fortunate to know him and play tunes along side with him with my concertina. While it's been many years since I last saw him, the memories of all the good times will last forever. Thank you Hans for being my friend.

Dennis, Mark, and Doris, I don't know if you remember your family's visits to Chicago, when you always visited my great Aunts Elsie and Carrie and my grandmother Minnie, to whom you are distantly related through your mother. I remember all of you so clearly, and this picture of your father is just as I remember him from your visits in the 1960's. My own father is planning a trip to Germany next summer which caused us to wonder about your family. I am sorry to hear of the loss of both your...

To Hans' family:
So sad to learn if your loss. Hans was a warm, and genuine man who loved life. His lively personality, sense of humor, plus his passion for music will always live on with friends. He and his accordion performances always brought cheer! He was one if the first people to welcome me to the Liederkranz. We used to talk about Kiel, since he and his wife were from there, and I had studied there. i am glad to have known him and offer condolences to his children and family.

We just learned of Hansi's passing. Hans was truly a great guy and a special person that really enjoyed life to the fullest. Sue and I will really miss him, his accordion and his laugh.

It is with great sadness for my wife and I to learn of the passing of my longtime friend Hans. Hans and I shared a similar immigration background and met decades ago at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as Professional Engineers. Over the years Hans brought much joy into our lives with his tireless, often nostalgic
accordion performances and sing-a-longs at
among others the Carsonville Hotel, Franz
Kindler's facilities, Ed Stoudt's in Adamstown, and also his home. Along...

SORRY TO SEE YOU GO HANS. THE PICTURE WITH YOUR IORIO ACCORGAN BRINGS A MEMORY OF MY 1ST IORIO. GIVE MY BEST TO AL WHEN YOU SEE HIM AND ASK JOHN GALGON TO PLAY YOUR TUNE WHEN YOU DANCE WITH YOUR WIFE. AUF WIEDERSEHN !

Hans the Happy Wanderer was a big part of my childhood. Much of our family recreation centered around German heritage, and Hans played the soundtrack to our trips to the Hofhrauhaus in Abbottstown, to the York OctoberFests in the '80's, to the York German Club picnics at Musser's Pond. Have a wonderful journey.

To Dennis, Mark & Doris and your extended families. You have our heartfelt sympathy and prayers. Hans and Heike were not only neighbors for many years, but more importantly -- great friends.

Hans was always the liveliest part of any gathering with his great sense of humor, wonderful tales and of course always ready with his accordion to brighten any room.

Grü Gott,

Rita Thompson & her children: Bob, Marla and Peggy.

I had the opportunity to have some fun with Hans in Canada a few years ago, he was truly a beautiful person.. Very humorous and quite the musician. He will be missed immensely. I pray that God helps his friends and family with understanding and the strengths needed over this time of sorrow. But smile knowing he is watching upon us all, and playing his accordion!! Miss ya buddy!!
