Our family was next door neighbors to Herk and Ann in the 1950's in Iola, KS. We lost track of them after we moved to Columbia, MO. We are sorry to hear of Herk's passing and send our prayers and sympathy to each and every one of his family.

Herk was a great man who my family came to love as soon as we met him. He gave my mom great joy and laughter in her last years of life which I will forever be thankful.
He should be remembered for his service to our country and his helping nature to all of his friends (mom called it his harem) at Maple Ridge. But I will remember him best by how he always made me feel comfortable when I shook his hand...immediate trust.
