Not sure what to say?

Dear Jane - Elizabeth and I had been so much looking forward to seeing you two in Chicago in June. You would be brave to still come, but that would give us a chance to give you the hugs we wish we could have done sooner.
Ernie was close to me in the Med. School. I admired his wisdom, and his learning, even as we both were learning about the things to which we later gave the best years of our lives. He was an usher at our wedding, when Elizbeth and I were married in Rockefeller...

Ernie was my oldest and dearest friend. We met in September,1933when, as eight year olds, we entered fourth grade at Francis Parker School on the north side of Chicago.I was new there and Ernie sort of took me under his wing and eased my transition. We were together through grammar school but we split for high school and came together again the University of Chicago in the Summer of 1942. After one year the war intervened and separated us for three years. We reconnected in 1946 and then Etnie...

Anne and I are deeply saddened to read of Ernie's death. We have such fond memories of our friendship with him and Jane during those two wonderful years at Einstein 1966-68. He was such a kind, gentle colleague and mentor, and I was so privileged as a young research fellow to share space near his office and laboratory. We were a real family on the 6th floor of Ullmann and it is so sad to realize how many are not still with us. However, the memories are profound and joyful and I will be...

Dear Jane,

We were shocked and saddened to learn that Ernie had died. He was not only my mentor and fellow hematologist, but also a dear family friend for over 50 years. He will be missed. Phyllis and I extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Ernie Jaffe was a mentor and valued colleague. I entered the field of hematology in large part because of his example as a productive and innovative clinical scientist. When I was a resident at New York Hospital, Ernie provided expert guidance in the treatment of a patient of mine with toxic methemoglobinemia. About four years later he gave me counsel and encouragement during my fellowship at Albert Einstein. His daughter Stephanie was one of our first baby sitters. He proved to be a...

Just want to express what a blessing it was to know and love Ernie. All of us remember how so many special times included him and Jane, especially our mother who always felt so loved by them.

The Pomeroys

The Dr.(& his wife) was a wonderful and faithful friend to my parents for close to 60 years. He was there as a friend & consultant when my father took ill and was hospitalized. He and his wife comforted my mother through this difficult time. He was and will remain a truly great friend, husband, and grandfather. We know that he rests in peace but with ever-lasting life hereafter. Love & Peace to his family.

Dear Stephanie,

I just read the Times obituary. I am so sorry for your loss. To you and and your family, I send my deepest sympathies.

Fondly,
Barbara
