West Jordan, Utah
Harley A. Hansen 1939 ~ 2010 Our Dearest Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend Harley Alvin Hansen was called home by our Heavenly Father on October 7th.Harley was born December 5, 1939 to Orlin Jacob and Fern Lyman Hansen in Mayfield, Utah. He graduated form Gunnison High School in 1958 and then joined the Navy. Harley married Carla LaRue Stanley on January 20, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. Harley and Carla lived in Long Beach, California during his Naval service. They then relocated to West Valley City for 10 years before building their home in West Jordan where they have resided for the last 38 years. Harley was employed by the US Postal Service for 34 years. Gardening was his favorite pastime and he took great pride in his beautiful garden where you could always find him. He was a Master Gardner and served many in the community with his gardening skills. Harley served in many church callings throughout his life and enjoyed Genealogy and sharing his family history stories with others. Whenever you were with Harley, no matter how far from home, he would always find someone in the crowd that he knew. Everyone adored and loved him dearly and we will miss him greatly along with his big bear hugs that everyone loved. Harley found great joy for over 50 years bringing smiles to children as their Santa Claus. He will be greatly missed by so many. Harley is survived by his wife Carla, children Bart (Lynette) Hansen, Wendy (Dwight) Wood, Bret (Teresa) Hansen, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his brother Erval Hansen. Our Christmas's will never be the same without Harley and Mrs Claus. I believe Harley was our Santa for over 30 years coming to the Lobato/Martinez family Christmas party. My son probably said it best when told of his passing "Sad, a lot of great memories with him". Please accept the sympathy of our families and know that we will miss him dearly each and every Christmas.

Carla, Bart, Wendy, Bret and family,
It is hard to imagine that Harley is not here anymore. He was just joking with us at Karley's wedding. We will miss him at the Hansen family parties. We are thinking of all of you at this time.

We consider it a privilege to have known this outstanding man for nearly 50 years - having first met in Long Beach during Navy days. We have kept in contact with Harley & Carla over the years & have had many great experiences & cherish their friendship. We're grateful we spent time with him 5 days prior to his passing, and received his wonderful "bear hug". He was kind to everyone & loved by all. He will be greatly missed. Our love & prayers to all the family & may the Lord Bless &...
