Harmon Zeigler

I was so sad to hear of your loss. Harmon was a hero of mine. He taught me valuable lessons in humility, generosity, enjoying life, fine wine and political intrigue. He encouraged my career as an attorney. We enjoyed many bottles of fine wine and rich discussions. A friend and co-author for over 40 years. Harmon's scope and depth of knowledge was unequaled by anyone I have ever known in or out of academe.Above all, he was a warm and caring human being.

Patty, It was such a joy to have you and Harmon come to our reunions. The fact that you were there made it even more special..Harmon was always special individual and we regret him leaving us. Whoever coined the phrase "A gentleman and a Scholar" had to be thinking of Harmon. He was both...in spades.

I was Harmon's first advisee in the Political Science department at UPS. Harmon deeply touched my life and influenced my path by his teachings. I cared about him and loved him, he was like a father to me. My deepest sympathies to the family. I think that having the donations to the animal society in his name is such a "Harmon" thing to do, and a great addition to his memory. I wish I could attend his funeral, but I literally just learned about this now and can’t make it to Tacoma tomorrow,...

Patty, please know that you and your family are in our thoughts as we remember Harmon and recall those wonderful days of our youth---in high school, at Armstrong. He was a very special person. We will miss him greatly at our next SHS reunion. Patty, I hope your many wonderful memories of the life shared with him help console you in the days and months ahead. Pat and family. I never got to meet you at the reunions of SHS. Even before we were classmates in High school My father and Harmon's father were friends sharing camellia gardening experiences. My father had a plant nursery that Luther frequented. I also had his mother for one of my English teachers.Very sweet lady.
