Harold, my uncle, closes a generation on a unique family. As a child it offered dreams, security, and a window into a world of fantasy.

HAROLD LLOYD ANDERSON passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Charter Senior Living. The family would like to thank Charter and especially Kelsey his RN, caregiver, and dearest friend for taking such excellent care of him and making his short stay there feel like home.
Harold left this earth the same way he lived his life. Peacefully, calm, and quiet so not to bother a soul. He was born on August 20, 1944, in Cookeville, Tennessee and lived his entire 80 years at the same address on Quail Lane in the Bangham community and was a graduate of Algood High School in 1962. Harold worked at McCord Winn for 27 years until it closed and moved out of Cookeville in 1994, and he made the choice to farm the family land full time.
Harold was preceded in death by his Father Lloyd B. Anderson and Mother Tennie Francis (Harp) Anderson. He was also preceded by a sister Linda Francis Phillips and nephew Jason Dee Phillips, as well as his most beloved sister Jane Carolyn Anderson who recently passed on March 25, 2023.
Harold is survived by his Niece Valisha (Phillips) Sells and her children Sherri Renee Schmidt (who never left his side) and her daughter, Kayden Myka Schmidt, Jacob Lloyd Schmidt, his wife Hailey (Herren) Schmidt and son Ogden Gabriel Schmidt. All his family was continuously with him during the last years and days of his life.
Throughout Harolds life, he kept it simple. He worked hard, loved God, family and his country. He enjoyed bird hunting and raising English Setter bird dogs. He also hatched and raised thousands of Quail that he would release back onto the land, (thus, the name Quail Lane). Harold also enjoyed to fish, but if you ever ask him the only fish worth taking the time to catch was a big Walleye.
The family would also like to thank Carlon and Kevin Loftis for respectfully taking care of the land these past few years and to continue to use the land for what it was meant for. Farming.
In lieu of flowers feel free to donate to the Smith Chapel Cemetery-(the church that still rings the church steeple bell when the hearse pulls in).
To honor Harolds memory, we ask that you take the time, go get an old lawn chair, put it under your favorite shade tree and just set a while. Oh, and if you're lucky enough to have a dog, it can sit beside you. In memory of his best buddy Scooter who will soon be joining him in his final resting place.
Looking back at Harolds 80 years, it seems 80 years is a good long life, if you can just learn to appreciate the simple things.
At Harolds request, there will be a small graveside service for family and friends on Thursday, September 26th at 4:00PM at the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
