Not sure what to say?

A little late but still heartfelt to Doug's kids and family. I knew all of you for a long time when you were small. Remember the trip to Chincoteaque? And I knew how much your Dad helped with caring for your mother during her illness - tough times for all. It is my pleasure to recall talking with him on the phone when it became impossible to talk with your mother; how through he was in explaining all that was going on.
I would imagine he enjoyed his retirement in Florida and am...

I'm sorry I never got down to Florida to see you. It sure was good to hear your voice tho...I'll miss you and be sure to play those drums loud(or as loud as you can with whisk brooms)in Heaven!!!!!

I too will miss Doug Bascom who I considered my buddy. Having known Doug for more than 40 years I will always think of him as one of the most considerate and giving people I have ever met and I will definitely miss his jokes. Thanks Dougie for treating me like a sister instead of a sister-in-law.

Those of us who still work at the Ithaca Post Office were saddened to learn of Doug's passing. Many stories were shared Monday, recalling Doug's wit and humour. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Doug's family.
I've been wandering down memory lane the past few days realizing what what a pleasure to have been a friend of Doug for many years. The memories at Danny's,The Rose,The Landing, wrestling meets at Cornell and Ithaca High School, visiting Tina and Lizzy, music talk, magic talk and amazing stories and jokes. A true friend who will be missed and never forgotten.

To the children of the funniest man I have ever met,

Your father had such a delightful sense of humor. He would always keep everyone around him in stitches. I, like most anyone who knew Doug, will always smile when I think of him. He was so proud of all of you and often shared with me the events in your lives. My thoughts are with you all.

How can you express your feeling at a time like this? Especially when it's Dougie!! All the kids along with Tom & Heather know how we feel about Dougie, we are especially sorry for not being able to ever share with him and show him our new endever here in Virginia. But,I have to admit, every time we think or talk about Dougie, we always end up with a smile on our faces and a lot of times a tear in your eye-just because he made you laugh so hard you cried and now because we all will miss...

I am so sad to hear of Doug's passing. I will miss his phone calls from Florida and his jokes and wonderful sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We're very sorry to hear about Doug. Although we hadn't seen him since he moved to Florida we would talk on the phone occasionally and he was always his upbeat self. He was one of those people everyone liked, and everyone will miss him.
