Not sure what to say?

When I moved to Portland I used public transportation for the first four years, and then (finally) bought a car for $2500. I happily drove off to the coast for the first time, but the car broke down and had to be towed back to Portland.

Through some miracle I found Harold and over a period of months he finally got it running very well. 6 years later he helped me buy a "hot rod" (as he called it) and bought back the car for close to what I paid for it. After all, it was a "Harold...

I just found out about Harold's passing, and I'm shocked and so sad. As a customer, I felt safe putting my car and my pocketbook in Harold's hands. Wow - will he ever be missed....

Harold was a faithful member of our Automotive Service Advisory Committee at Clackamas Community College for many years. We all enjoyed his great sense of humor and we appreciated his valuable input at our meetings. It's been great to read all of the guest book entries and to see how many lives he touched. He will really be missed by all of us here. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Harold as a "snake oil" salesman. He was one of my favorite customers because he treated me respectfully and like he treated everyone else. If he was busy get the hell out of the way.

But take the time to go to a Kiwanis meeting and chase him down for a late lunch at one of his many haunts and you knew he was a special man.

Often, I would run into hostile shop owners who would chide me for selling the "goo" but the fact that Harold Dick had given me a shot, looked...

Sadly, I never knew Harold, but the story of his life has touched me. I read about his passing in Tom Dwyer's newsletter. To the family and all the folks who have been 'repaired' by knowing Harold, you've had a wonderful life.

Our condolences to Gerri and Brice and all of the family; as well as all of the "other" family at the shop ....we all miss Harold immeasurably.
We felt so fortunate to be among the 500+ in attendance at Harold's beautiful tribute at the Melody Ballroom; where were reminded in even greater ways, of what we felt like we already knew, and that was just how many lives Harold touched....and how positively. We recall one of Harold's friends and admirers saying at the tribute, that Harold and...

From those young years at Tigard High to now is pretty much most of our adult lives. Every time I took one of my cars in, the important thing was to go over our mutual list of friends we remembered from high school and catch each other up on what they were doing now, and gossip a little, and laugh and laugh - about our friends some but mostly about ourselves. Finally we'd get around to talking briefly about what the car needed. But I never needed to say very much, because I absolutely...

As Harold looks down on us, our condolences go out to all those in his family, and those he touched

His family is in our thoughts and prayers.

He is talking with lost friends, running hot laps and shaking his head as people in heaven are still trying to get advice, doing it themselves and then ending up broken down on the side of the road.

I met Harold, through my father in Law, Dick Wald who knew him from racing in the 50's and early 60's and was...

Gerri and family, This is from Dan Parshall - you may remember that you and Harold came to my place at Fairview Lake a couple of years age of a salmon BBQ, with Willi Williams from Ohau. News of Harold's death came to me here in Hawaii where I have been working for the past 4 months. Needless to say it came as a shock. I was always confident that my cars (a 53 TD and 63 AustinHealey) would always get the best of care from Harold. Many a time I would take the TD in at the beginning of...
