EBERT, Harold J. "Sandy" Harold J. Ebert, "Sandy" 93 of Killingworth passed away November 14, 2006. He was born January 22, 1913 in Scarsdale, NY. Harold is the son of Joseph V. and Eleanor Connolly Ebert. Sandy is preceded in death by parents and wife Margaret Engel Ebert. Sandy was employed by the A. Cahill and Son Plumbing and Heating Company of Old Saybrook for over 35 years and was a member of the Old Saybrook Fire Dept. for over 38 years. He was a member of the American Legion, life member of DAV and a US Army Veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. Sandy served in the 26th Infantry Division, Third Army under the direction of General George Patton. Harold received three battle stars for the campaign in Rhineland, Battle of the Bulge, and Northern France where Harold was wounded. Harold was the awarded the Bronze Star along with the Infantryman's Combat Badge. Sandy is survived by nieces: Lois Dobratz and husband, Jeffery of Higganum, Mary Begin and husband, Richard of Windsor Locks, and Carolyn Engel of Virginia Beach, VA, and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. at which time the service will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook on Saturday, November, 18. Burial to follow at Cypress Cemetery in Old Saybrook with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to Old Saybrook Fire Dept., 310 Main St., Old Saybrook CT 06475 in memory of Harold "Sandy" Ebert.

I will never forget you Uncle Sandy. I always enjoyed our rides around the stately homes in Old Saybrook, and eating lunches with you on my visits to CT have left me with many fond memories. I will miss you very much.
