HICKORY - Harold Dean Eckard, 90 of Hickory passed away, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Trinity Village in Hickory.
Born in Catawba County, on May 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur and Edna Lail Eckard.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Carl, Ray, Jack, Donald and Jay, and his sisters Irene, Pauline and Joann preceded him in death.
Harold retired from Dixie Foam and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He also was a member of St Stephens Church ELCA.
Known as the Christmas tree man, he grew and sold Christmas trees for many years. He loved to garden fish, and hunt. He shared his love for hunting with his grandchildren, and he adored each one of them. A loving father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His wife of 66 years, Jenny Eckard of the home; daughters Dean Barnes (Stuart) of Taylorsville, Wendy Hart (Troy Fox) of Hickory and Andrea Rogers of Conover; grandchildren Brittney, Brett, Brandon, April, Alyse and Ethan; and nine great grandchildren survive him.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Terri Landers officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care Harold received at Trinity Village in Hickory.
