TRAVERSE CITY — On Aug. 2, 2008, Harold J. Edmondson passed away peacefully at Munson Medical Center.
Harold was born on March 28, 1920, in Lansing, to Harold J. Edmondson and Agnes E. Polisky. The family moved to the east side of Traverse City when he was a young boy. He had many interesting stories of growing up and going to school as an eastsider. After graduating from Traverse City High School in 1939, he moved to Detroit to work as a draftsman until he went into the U.S. Army in 1943 to serve honorably in World War II.
On June 5, 1948, he married the former Elsie Sundeen on the family farm on Old Mission peninsula. Together they raised their family of four children there, and operated the Central Cherry Orchard. Harold and his wife enjoyed being antique dealers for many years. He was also a journeyman electrician; fisherman; wood worker; avid reader; and lifelong learner. Harold had a keen sense of appreciation and support for land conservation and the natural beauty of Traverse City.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Tana (Harold) Wilsey, Jane Edmondson, Dave Edmondson, and Julie Edmondson, all of Traverse City; and grandson, Dave Wilsey of Holland.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elsie, in 2002; his parents; and brothers, Ralph David Edmondson, Rod Edmondson; and sisters, Luella McPherson-Hudson and Annabelle Pletzke.
Visitation for friends and family will be this evening, Aug. 5, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cherryland Humane Society.
The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City; www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com

May you feel God's closeness during this difficult time.

I am so sorry about Harold. I was away and I just heard... I am going to miss " my boyfriend " and his sweet treats. I guess he will be in heaven, listening to his music and dancing. He will be handing out treats there to all the women.... I will miss him in dialysis so much. He was my special patient that would make me blush...
Keep in touch
