Not sure what to say?

I knew Hal "Monky" in Georgia I played town ball with him in Oconee,
Co . He was an all around great athlete at Athens ,Ga. I was with him when he wired the Cardinals that
if they didn't send money for school he would play football for the U of Ga. The best I remember they sent him $200 Also when he went to spring training he come home.
If this would been todays condition
it would been in the million and he would never played in the minors.

I was a 12 year old girl who absolutely ADORED the 1947 Houston Buffs and can still reel off most of the line-up. But none of those fine young men were as much of a gentleman as Hal Epps. He was kind and courteous and always had time for the young fans. I know he's sitting in a dugout talking about old times with Solly, Eddie, Johnny, and all the others of that team. God Bless you Hal, and thanks for some wonderful memories.

When Hal Epps played center field for the Houston Buffs, I was only a 9-year old sandlot player, but I used to go out and pretend to be him whenever I had a chance. I did grow up to play center field, but I was no Hal Epps. I just got to taste the joy that goes with that wonderful position. I also learned a lot from Hal that he never even knew he was teaching me. Years ago, I wrote about chasing the long ball in the following poem, "Summer Baseball." In memory of the great Hal Epps, whose...

I attended almost every home game of the Houston Buffs while Hal Epps was a player. I remember a baby shower at Buff stadium for the Epps family. Fans presented gifts. My girlfriend and I were in High School at the time, and we donated free baby sitting. In later years I was privileged to make a few "home run presentations" at home plate. I loved baseball, the Buffs and Hal Epps. Thank you, Hal, for the example you set during those wonderful years!

I offer my prayers and my...

Dear Mrs. Epps: My husband, Harry Gumbert, played ball with the St. Louis Cardinals and we knew you and your husband through the Baseball Association in Houston. Harry passed away in 1995. I know Hal had a long and wonderful life and you will miss him a great deal. I'm so sorry for your loss. Best wishes to you.

I've never met Harold personally. I was fortunate to have one phone conversation with Harold years ago.

However, due to my conversations with his cousin Jack Couch, I felt I knew Harold.

Jack Couch has assisted in my research by his conversations with Harold. Jack has assurred that Harold will live forever by all the wonderful comments and his love for Harold and his family.

I am researching the Epps geneology in particular the descendants of E. O....
