Harold Jay Hackworth, 77, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away, January 27, 2017. Harold was born in Virgie, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Goldie (Mullins) Hackworth. On October 19, 1960, he married Joyce Schmutz in Bluffton, Ohio and she survives.
Harold graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1958 where he played football and basketball. Harold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years and was stationed at Ft. Knox. Harold was employed for 33 years at Cooper Industrial Products as a Department Manager. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Harold loved gardening as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid golfer and was proud of his “bragging rights” of his three holes in one. Harold always worked hard, enjoyed his retirement, and the 20 years of living in Florida, however, Harold’s greatest love was spending time with his family.
Harold is survived by his wife, Joyce of Bowling Green; daughters: Kim (Larry) Tussing of Pemberville, Ohio; Jana (Kevin) Smith of Hammond, Indiana; son: Randy (Donna) Hackworth of Luckey, Ohio; sister: Janice Adams-Evans of Elizabeth, Kentucky; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother Curtis Hackworth, sister Joyce Mercer, and one granddaughter: Kayleigh Tilley-Slater.
Visitation for Harold will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402; tele: 419-352-2171. Funeral Services for Harold with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harold’s honor may be donated to Trinity United Methodist Church, 200 N. Summit Street, Bowling Green, Ohio or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
