Harold and I both graduated from Long Beach Jordan High School in 1948. He was a great guy and a top athlete. We had our photo taken together for the Long Beach Press Telegram newspaper for a feature article. I am not surprised to read what an outstanding and productive citizen he was during his life.

I had the honor or working with Harold on and off throughout my career with GTE, He was a fantastic manager and dynamic leader in all of his job assignments. He was instrumental in implementing much of the improved telecommunications technology in Southern California. He was a people person and made work enjoyable. He was always one with the highest integrity and trusted to accomplish any task at hand. I just became aware of his passing almost 5 months after the fact. My deepest and warmest regards to Helen and the family. Frank Zellner, Retired 1988, GTE California.

Mr.Nelms was a very friendly person and he made the band students feel as if they were his own children. My mother and I ran into him at the local drug store one day and he gave the both of us a big hug and smile. After our chitchat, as we were leaving the store, my mother commented on how friendly he was and how much she really liked him. That is the thing I will remember the most and miss the most - his big friendly smile and the twinkle in his eyes.

Heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise found at 1 Thessalonians 4:14 will bring you comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be reassuring.

I have such fond memories of Harold from GTE. He was always so kind to everyone. I feel blest to have known and worked with him.

I felt lucky to have such a kind neighbor growing up. He was always kind to my sisters and me. We would show up in our bathing suits asking If we could swim in his pool and he and Helen always said yes and welcomed us into their home.
His contributions to the city of Chino through the school board and the chino band boosters made life in Chino better.
